Akkadian A Semitic culture that inherited and expanded Sumerian celestial knowledge.
Anu Sky father and supreme deity of the Sumerian pantheon, heavenly realm in Sumerian cosmology.
Astarte Near Eastern goddess associated with Venus, parallel to Inanna/Ishtar.
Astrology ”Astro” meaning “star” ; “study of the star wisdom”

Babylonian Astrology A refined system built on Sumerian foundations, introducing mathematical prediction and the 12‑sign zodiac.
C
Celestial Omen A sky event interpreted as a divine message.
Constellation A mythic grouping of stars used for symbolic interpretation. (There are also “ancient constellations” which are kept secret to public. Elif explains them in the consultations, if you have them in your charts)
Cycle A repeating celestial pattern such as lunar phases or Venus’s synodic cycle.

Decan A 10‑day Egyptian star division used for timekeeping and ritual alignment ; the Babylonians knew this concept before the Egyptians though.
Dumuzi Shepherd god associated with seasonal cycles, fertility, and mythic descent.
E
Enki Sumerian god of wisdom, water, creation, magic and intuitive intelligence.
Enlil God of storms, breath, and destiny; a central figure in celestial authority.
Evening Star For example Venus when visible after sunset, symbolizing femininity and emotional depth.

Göbekli Tepe Ancient Anatolian ritual site with astronomical alignments predating written history in city of Sanliurfa in Turkiye. (also search for Tas Tepeler)

Heliacal Rising The first visible rising of a star before sunrise, marking seasonal and ritual transitions. (Some can also rise after sunrise)
House (Astrological) A division of the sky used in later Greek astrology; not part of Sumerian practice.
I
Inanna Sumerian goddess of Venus, sovereignty, love, war, and transformation.
Ishtar Babylonian form of Inanna, associated with Venus and celestial omens.

Ki (Earth) The earthly realm in Sumerian cosmology ; the divine mother of all.
L
Lunar Cycle The monthly phases of the Moon, used for timing rituals and emotional rhythms.
Lunar Standstill An 18.6‑year cycle where the Moon reaches extreme rising points.
M
Magic (Ancient) Ritual alignment with celestial cycles for transformation and intention.
Morning Star For example Venus when rising before the Sun, symbolizing wisdom and clarity.
MUL.APIN Babylonian star compendium preserving Sumerian astronomy, omens, and constellations.

Nanna Sumerian Moon deity representing cycles, dreams, and sacred timing.
Near Eastern Astrology A constellation of traditions from Sumer, Babylon, Egypt, and Anatolia (Turkiye).

Omen Logic Pattern‑based interpretation of celestial events used in ancient Mesopotamia and Kemet (ancient Egypt).
Opposition When two planets face each other across the sky, symbolizing interactionand revelation.
P
Pleiades A star cluster associated with seasonal transitions and agricultural timing ; this was the beginning of the ancient Mesopotamian zodiac (not Aries).
R
Retrograde (Venus) A period when Venus appears to move backward. The ancients knew that the retrograde motion was a part of a planet’s motion. That’s why it was NOT so important. But the invisible planets and the “S” motions were the most important astronomical phenomenons. Elif interprets your charts using this wisdom.
Ritual A symbolic action aligned with celestial timing to create meaning and intention.

Sacred Timing Aligning actions with celestial cycles for spiritual or ritual significance and manifestation.
Sidereal A star‑based astronomical framework used in ancient systems. As ”astro” means “star” ; all “astrology” types should relate to “the study of star wisdom”. See “astrology”
Sirius A bright star associated with rebirth and seasonal renewal. (Spedet in ancient Kemet /Egyptian)
Solar Cycle The Sun’s annual movement through solstices and equinoxes.
Star Path The predictable movement of stars across the sky.
Synodic Cycle The time it takes for a planet to return to the same position relative to the Sun.

Temple Astronomy Ancient sky‑watching practices performed from ziggurats and sacred sites.
True Shepherd of Heaven A Sumerian constellation associated with Orion.

Utu Sumerian Sun god representing clarity, justice, and illumination ; “The one who sees, hears and knows everything”

Venus Cycle The 584‑day cycle of Venus through Morning Star, Evening Star, and invisible phases.
Venus Omen A celestial sign involving Venus, often linked to transformation.

Wagon (Constellation) A Sumerian star group symbolizing movement and procession.
